Our History
For 13 years, the Boys & Girls Club of Southwest Montana has been in the forefront of youth development, working with young people from all economic, social, and family circumstances. Our Club has actively enriched the lives of girls and boys that other organizations have been unable to reach. We are dedicated to ensuring that the young people of our community have access to quality programs and services that will truly enhance their lives and shape their futures.
There are various ways of considering our organization's effectiveness. One is to simply count the number of youth we serve annually, and take pride in the fact that they are engaged in constructive activity. Perhaps more telling is to point to scores of contributing citizens who are schoolteachers, firefighters, peace officers, homemakers, salespersons, computer technicians, or other alumni engaged in any number of responsible endeavors.
In 2005, we opened our first facility on Bridger Drive, in Bozeman. The building designed as an in town camp by " kids for kids" - a result of 12 years of fund-raising by our youth, local support, grants and foundations. Located on 5 1/2 acres of land, and bordered by the East Gallatin River, the property was generously donated by Mr. Carroll V. Henderson and his wife Vera. As Mr. Henderson stated many times "if our donation of land saves just one child - then the gift will have been worth it". We thank Mr. and Mrs. Henderson for their most generous gift and vision.
